kWh (one kilowatt hour) - Is 1,000 watts of energy used for one hour. E.g. a 100-watt lightbulb switched on for 10 hours is equivalent to 1kWh.

kWp - Stands for kilowatt peak. This is the unit in which the figure for peak power output possible from a photovoltaic system is given. The greater the figure, the greater the peak power output of the system. Peak power output is achieved under full solar radiation conditions. Typical solar PV systems for domestic use range from 1 kWp to 4 kWp.

Photovoltaic - 'photo' refers to light and 'voltaic' refers to electricity, and word 'photovoltaic' refers to the generation of electricity from the action of light.

PV - Abbreviation for photovoltaic.
